Background

In 2007, a dream took root – a winery dedicated to the soul of Garnacha. Cultivating over 52 hectares of land, Xabier, Iñaki, and Mikel Sanz meticulously planted Garnacha vines alongside its cousins – Mazuelo, White Garnacha, and even Chardonnay. This endeavor wasn't merely about planting vines; it was an exploration. Within the historic walls of the old Corella winery, now known as Zorzal, they conducted experiments with esteemed winemaker Jorge Navascues at the helm. Further collaborations with notable figures such as Matías Michelini, Fredi Torres, Daniel Niepoort, and Arturo de Miguel have enriched their offerings. Many of their resulting wines are featured in prestigious wine competitions, a testament to their dedication and artistry.

Production Process

The wine undergoes alcoholic fermentation in open 500-liter French oak barrels that are one year old. Native yeasts, naturally present in the grapes, initiate the process. Malolactic fermentation follows, after which the wine ages for 15 months in used (two-year-old) 225-liter French oak barrels.
