Tasting Notes
Javier Zaccagnini's Preludio glides across the tongue with a silky texture, its 15% alcohol perfectly balanced by bright acidity. Full-bodied and bursting with aromas of spice, herbs, and a hint of candle wax, it delivers a wave of dark red berry flavors to the palate.
Background
Ditching big, bold Ribera del Duero reds, Javier Zaccagnini started SEI SOLO in 2007, chasing a Tempranillo all about elegance and finesse. Launched in 2011, it defied expectations. In 2018, Javier went all-in on SEI SOLO, crafting exceptional wines from 28 plots across La Horra's finest vineyards. Now, with his son Michael, Maria Gamboa, and José Ignacio Moro by his side, SEI SOLO continues to impress with a dedication to pure excellence.
Production Process
SEI SOLO conjures its magic from ancient (60-100 year old!) tinta fina vines that sprawl across six hectares in La Horra. To capture the essence of the grape, fermentation and aging happen in seasoned French barrels, shunning the use of flashy new ones. With a tiny production of just over 5300 bottles a year, only the finest 1000 liters become SEI SOLO, with the rest transforming into their delicious Preludio. Both spend 20 months maturing for ultimate perfection.
