Background
Founded in 2002, El Nido has become a symbol of excellence in Spanish winemaking, highlighting the outstanding potential of Jumilla. El Nido owes its creation to the collaborative vision of Chris Ringland, an esteemed figure in Australian winemaking, and the Gil Family consortium, which unites a mosaic of small wineries across Spain. While the Gil Family produces a diverse range of wines, they share a common thread of commitment to quality and tradition, united under a single commercial label
Nestled in the Valley of the Aragona, adjacent to Jumilla, this winery spans over 44 hectares, nurturing ancient Monastrell (Mourvèdre) and Cabernet Sauvignon vines. Some of these venerable vineyards, nearly a century old, thrive in limestone-rich soils adorned with an abundance of rocky outcrops. Situated at elevations facing north and northeast, these vineyards grow in a dry climate, allowing the grapes to undergo a slow, unhurried ripening process, thereby revealing their fullest flavors.
Production Process
This wine is a crianza that undergoes malolactic fermentation in new barrels made of French and American oak, where it ages for 24 months.
Food Pairing
This wine is enjoyable on its own; however, it pairs well with different types of food, but it compliments red meat dishes, lamb, and mature cheeses exceptionally.
Storage and Serving Temperature
It is recommended to serve between 14-16 ºC with a maximum temperature of 25 degrees.
