Background
More than just a winery, Bodegas Antonio Alcaraz is a dream come true. Two families, steeped in Rioja's winemaking tradition for over six generations, joined forces in the early 2000s to craft exceptional wines. Nestled beneath the iconic Sierra de Cantabria mountains, known for nurturing La Rioja's finest grapes, their dedication is meticulous. From hand-selecting grapes to honoring time-tested techniques, their passion echoes in every bottle. Witnessing the unique climate of the Sierra de Cantabria, they prioritize showcasing the grapes' natural essence. Aged in a cool, underground cellar with unwavering consistency, their wines have earned global recognition for a reason – pure, exceptional quality.
Production Process
After hand-sorting the grapes, they spend 4 days at a cool temperature, intensifying their color and flavor. Next comes fermentation with meticulous temperature control, followed by two weeks of additional skin contact. To achieve a richer mouthfeel, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in brand new French oak barrels, then it rests for a year, soaking up the subtle oaky notes.
