Background

Conde de San Cristóbal Winery, located in the heart of the "Golden Mile" of Ribera del Duero, is distinguished by its unique charm. The building, designed in the style of a 16th-century Castilian castle, reflects the rich history of the estate and its current owner, Don Pelayo de la Mata, Count of San Cristóbal. The De la Mata family is also known for the Bodegas del Marqués de Vargas winery in Rioja Alta. Their 80-hectare vineyards near Peñafiel in Valladolid are meticulously tended, with specific micro-plots dedicated exclusively to Tinta Fina grapes. This approach, combined with low yields (just 1.5 bottles per vine), ensures limited production of high-quality red wines.

Production process

This Tempranillo wine is aged for 12-14 months in French oak barrels, adding complexity to its flavor profile. The grapes come exclusively from the historic Pago de Valdestremero estate, where vines have thrived since the 16th century.
