Tasting Notes

This wine offers a complex mix of earthy, underbrush, and mineral notes alongside rich black fruits. Dense and layered, it has a substantial presence on the palate. While its 15.5% alcohol is noticeable, it remains balanced, with a smooth, silky texture and a pleasant finish.

Background

Imagine a winery situated at a unique crossroads, where cool breezes from the Levante temper the arid plains of La Mancha. Here, at over 700 meters above sea level, limestone soils cradle Garnacha Tintorera and Monastrell grapes. These ancient vines, some defying gravity at over 800 meters, whisper of historic battles and hunts amidst the rugged terrain. The Gils family, blending tradition with innovation, crafts wines that burst with fresh fruit and floral notes. Their masterful touch coaxes out the best of each varietal, from the vibrancy of Garnacha Tintorera's violet heart to the power and finesse of Monastrell. In every sip, one senses their dedication to quality and their triumph over challenging conditions.

Production Process

Alaya, a wine made entirely from Garnacha Tintorera grapes, hails from a unique heritage. Grown on tenacious vines at a staggering 1,000 meters above sea level, the grapes are then aged for 15 months in new French and American oak barrels, resulting in a complex and flavorful wine.
