Tasting Notes

This wine exhibits a dark, inky color. On the nose, it explodes with aromas of ripe berries, a hint of black pepper spice, and intriguing mineral notes reminiscent of graphite. The first sip reveals a full-bodied wine with flavors that linger on the palate, finishing smooth and velvety.

Background

The vineyard's story stretches back to the 12th century, with the first harvest in 1165. Documents reveal that Cistercian monks cultivated grapes here. This rich heritage is perfectly complemented by modern techniques and the youthful energy of the Ramón-Reula team. In the 1980s, the family started piecing together various historic plots of land that once belonged to Finca Aylés, bringing the estate back to its former glory. Spanning over 8,000 acres, the diverse landscape is crisscrossed by the Huerva River. In 1995, they planted 75 hectares with local grape varieties, now under the Cariñena Denomination of Origin. In 2010, their dedication paid off when Pago de Aylés became the first officially recognized Vino de Pago in Aragon.

Production Process

This red blend brings together their finest Garnacha, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, each sourced from just three exceptional hectares. Over a year in French oak barrels adds hints of spice and vanilla to the juicy fruit flavors, creating a complex and satisfying wine.
