Tasting Notes

This tempting red unfolds with aromas of ripe berries, fruits and sweet spices, framed by the elegant strength of new oak. It fills the mouth with a full-bodied, velvety texture, hinting at tobacco and roasted notes, before leaving a long, satisfying finish.

Background

Once a monastery vineyard, Nuestra Señora de Remelluri Farm found new life in 1967 under Jaime Rodríguez Solís. Committed to local grapes, they meticulously restored a sprawling vineyard, crafting acclaimed wines like reserves and high expressions. But Remelluri boasts more than just delicious wines – a medieval necropolis and an ancient cave press hint at the estate's deep roots in Rioja's winemaking tradition.

Production Process

This blend is crafted with 85% Tempranillo, 10% Garnacha, and 5% Graciano. Its soul comes from a mix of ancient vines planted in 1918 and younger ones from the early 2000s. Fermented in both closed and small open oak tanks, it spends 21 months maturing in French oak barrels. Sun-drenched by a warmer-than-usual Mediterranean vintage, the grapes yielded a smaller harvest but intense concentration. Despite some late-season dryness, the pickers came in a touch earlier, capturing the essence of this unique year.
