Tasting Notes
This deep red wine with a garnet hue offers an inviting aroma of black cherry, mocha, and a touch of fragrant lavender. The first sip reveals a delightful interplay of dark berries and floral characteristics, which give way to hints of caramel and savory herbs. The tannins, initially bold, soften gracefully into a bright, long-lasting finish bursting with fruity flavors.
Background
Family-run Pago de los Capellanes, founded in 1996 (Ribera del Duero), crafts high-quality wines. Respecting tradition, they use meticulous hand-harvesting and aging in French oak barrels. Their focus? Capturing the essence of the land's unique soil and climate variations, resulting in award-winning wines. Beyond Ribera del Duero, their Galician project, O Luar do Sil, produces white Godello wines reflecting that region's character.
Production Process
This handcrafted Tempranillo boasts concentrated flavors thanks to low-yield grapes from very old vines (average 70-80 years). Aged 14 months in French oak, it showcases traditional winemaking techniques.
