Tasting Notes

Martin Sarmiento has a cherry-red hue with a mysterious shimmer. The aroma includes balsamic and spicy smoky notes, complemented by floral accents and mineral undertones. The taste is balanced, with well-integrated tannins and a refreshing aftertaste.

Background

The winery was founded in 1985 and named after the famous medieval Galician troubadour, Martin Codax, whose songs and music have survived to this day. The project was launched by a group of 50 winemakers united by the common goal of developing the potential of Albariño wine. Since then, this project has grown and become a symbol of Galician winemaking worldwide. To this day, they remain committed to preserving their unique culture and caring for their people and land.

Production Process

In the wine production process, every step is filled with care and attention to detail. Hand-harvesting is not just a procedure but a ritual that highlights the uniqueness and high quality of each Martin Sarmiento vintage. The grapes are harvested from vines that have been growing for over 80 years. After aging for 17 months, you will feel its unique Atlantic character, a product of slow ripening in the Menzia region. This rural wine is hand-picked into small crates from the best plots. After fermentation is complete, the wine is aged for 17 months in barrels made of 100% French oak, and then bottled.
