Tasting Notes

This red wine shows off a deep color with hints of cherry and violet. On the nose, it mixes toasty oak with aromas of red fruit, vanilla, and a touch of minerality. Powerful tannins and lively acidity provide structure, while lingering toasted notes lead to a delightfully sweet finish.

Background

Winemaker Eladio Piñeiro's story is one of resilience. A personal setback led him to sell his winery and relocate across the Atlantic, but his passion for his Galician homeland never faded. Upon his return, inspired and invigorated, he founded Finca Eladio Piñeiro in 1981, championing biodynamic viticulture. Here, organic vineyards and lunar cycles guide production, resulting in authentic Galician wines with labels like "Envidiacocha" and "Frore de Carme" celebrated worldwide for their respect for nature and exquisite taste, capturing the true essence of Rías Baixas.

Production Process

When you drink this Portuguese red blend, La Coartada, you'll mostly taste Aragonez grapes (80%). However, Alicante Bouschet, Syrah, and Petit Verdot also contribute to its complexity. The grapes flourish under ideal conditions in Alentejo's meticulously tended vineyards. To ensure optimal aging, the wine undergoes meticulous selection and cold maceration before fermenting with native yeasts. La Coartada spends three years maturing in new barrels, followed by additional aging in stainless steel vats and bottles before it graces your table.
