Tasting Notes
Wine of dark cherry color with highlights. The 2021 vintage is drier and more refined than 2020. It features notes of pollen and honey. The wine is very elegant and rich, with a dense taste of fruit notes and a slightly dominant oak tannin. The best time to enjoy it is between 2026 and 2028.
Background
The wine producer Domínio de Pingus is a small boutique winery located in the province of Burgos. Its founder, Peter Sisseck, is a well-known figure in the world of wine, creating beverages that are in high demand. His story began in Bordeaux, where he worked as an oenologist. Dreaming of creating his own product, he acquired a plot in La Horra, Ribera del Duero, planted with old vines, and set out to unlock their full potential through careful pruning and limited harvest collection.
His first vintage - 1995 - caused a sensation in the international market. He released only 325 bottles, and Peter Parker, the number one guru in the wine world, gave it the highest rating, fueling interest in this producer.
Production Process
The wine is made from the Tempranillo variety sourced from local farmers. Harvesting is done manually. It is aged for 18 months in barrels of French oak (20%), while the rest is fermented in cement tanks and oak vats.
