Campillo gran reserva 2014 Rioja

Tasting Notes

Imagine a wine so red it rivals a maraschino cherry, catching the light with the sparkle of garnets. Take a deep whiff, and you'll be hit with a burst of ripe blackberries and plums, followed by a whisper of pepper and a hint of sweet vanilla and licorice. The first sip is like biting into a juicy, plump plum – full-bodied and round on the tongue. It lingers long after you swallow, leaving a sophisticated warmth behind.

Background

Campillo Gran Reserva arose from the dream of Bodegas Campillo's founder, Julio Faustino Martínez, who introduced the concept of Chateau to La Rioja. Since 1978, he began expanding the existing plot, and by 1988, he managed to expand it to 25 hectares, and then to 50 hectares around Laguardia. It was there that the winery was built according to the project of Aurelio Ibarrola Fragela. This winery in Rioja was the first created with a unique architectural style that pays homage to the land and craftsmanship. The wine produced here became a symbol of passion for winemaking, family, and continuity.

Production Process

This full-bodied wine is made from Tempranillo - a precious grape variety grown in the northern Spanish region of Rioja. The wine is aged for at least 24 months in French oak barrels, which gives it a complex flavor and softens the tannins. The D.O.Ca. Rioja certification guarantees compliance with strict quality standards for authentic Rioja wines.
