Background
Situated in Briñas near Haro, La Rioja, Tobelos Winery thrives in a unique climate shaped by the Sierra Cantabria mountains and the Ebro River—ideal for grape cultivation. Founded in the late 20th century, the winery seamlessly integrates modern design with nature, symbolized by the ancient oak tree that inspired its name. Tobelos honors the region's rich winemaking tradition, dating back to monks who documented Rioja wines as early as 1293. At Tobelos, quality is paramount. Grapes are meticulously hand-harvested, with only the finest selected. The winery features state-of-the-art facilities for producing exceptional wines, and visitors are invited to experience the process firsthand.
Production process
This wine uses Tempranillo grapes exclusively. After harvest, the grapes ferment in squat, cone-shaped concrete tanks. The wine then ages for 18 to 20 months in 225-liter barrels, a mix of French and American oak.
